Just passed the 100 mark!

Sometime during the night, our visitor count went over 100 unique visits. Not too bad for a site that only been up and running for several weeks now. We are greatful for all who visit here and hope you continue to come back. We will do our best to keep material in front of you that makes that decision easy for you.

I am planning on putting a guestbook up in the next few days. I hope that some of you will take the time to sign it and let us know who you are. I know most people are pretty busy and don't have time to leave regular comments on posts, so maybe this is an alternative to just give us an idea of who our regular audience is so we can better accommodate your reading wishes.

Anyway, thanks again to all who visit here. See you again soon.

Submissions

If you are a writer, who lives in Appalachia or is from there or has roots there, you may submit work to us for publication.

We encourage writers of all skill levels to submit work here. The only way to get better at the craft of writing is to practice it.

If you are an exceptional writer, requiring little or no editing, you may be offered a position as a staff writer and can forego the submissions process.

Code of the Hills

The rules of behavior here at the Appalachian Writers are fairly simple and straightforward:

1 - No abuse or attacks on any contributor or guest will be tolerate. This is the first and only warning on that account.

2 - Nothing of an obscene or pornographic nature will be tolerated here. We want this to be a place our children and grandmothers can come to as well. We are not teetotlers and will allow a certain levity in language for stories, poems and comments, but please just use good taste and discretion.

3 - Please feel free, in fact encouraged, to comment on the pieces our contributors have offered for your reading enjoyment. If you have a criticism on a piece of work, that is fine, too. We are thick-skinned up to a point. Just make sure that your critiques are done in a way to encourage improvement in the way we write for you and not just mean-spirited poor-mouthing.

That ought to just about do it. Just behave like you would if your momma was watching, she just might be. You know how sneaky they can be!
