She is the One

Heart ripped out as a child
Taken and hurt without cause
Nothing could justify it
Silent screams in the night
She was the Lamb
Quiet cries fell far away
On the ears of the lion

He rose and began his hunt
He walked and prowled
In a lifelong search
Following the scent of this mourning
And then he found her
Laying quiet but shaking

Crushed, broken and defenseless
The damaged image of a woman
The lion was old and scarred
Taking his time he devoured her
One lick at a time
Ensuring this was his last meal

I think I must have in one of my former lives been from Appalachia. I have such an affinity for the country, although from the city. Love bluegrass music. I highly recommend the film SONGCATCHER which is set in the early 1900's in the hills. The protagonist, a music historian, finds a treasure trove of earlier music and befriends the locals. Iris Dement also has a cameo bit in it. A beautiful film. Petra
