A Dissenting Voice From The Cemetery Above Grover's Corners
by wk kortas
If you believe all the twaddle you’ve read,
Then I suppose you deserve all you get
(Spend your life here, and you’re better off dead.)
Bovine fools can be easily misled;
You’ll contentedly graze without regret
If you believe all the twaddle you’ve read.
Yes, gloss over harsh truths best left unsaid;
Hushed abortions, lies, promises unmet.
(Spend your life here, and you’re better off dead.)
Our most prominent families so well bred
(Not common mongrels like the family pet)
If you believe all the twaddle you’ve read.
Yet those lawyers and doctors live in dread
Of their pedigree scandalizing their set.
(Spend your life here, and you’re better off dead.)
We who live here with cold stone near our head
Are wholly unconcerned if you’re upset
If you believe all the twaddle you’ve read
(Spend your life here, and you’re better off dead.)
