He rests—
Son of a coal miner
aVietnam vet
self-taught brick mason
with no diploma to record
his hard-won schooling
Quiet now he rests
in front of the fireplace
he built with his own hands
wrapped in the warmth
of fire and family
peace has found this old Marine
and brought him safely home

I've seen pics and he looks well fed too. lol My brother went and they sent me to Germany. Guess I lucked out there. But I made the rounds of several other hard places. Some of the finest people I have ever met was on the side of a hill somewhere, sweatin' under the weight of a rucksack and carrying a rifle.
Yep, he likes his biscuits and gravy! His brother was in Germany in the 60's.
Thing is, there had to be people there to support the ones in the war. That's always true, and one duty station is as important as the next. Some just get shot at more, I hear.
