Autumn Again

earthen tones blanket the hills
in a patchwork of color,
with each burst of wind the quilt frays
as leaves set sail

banquets of chestnuts lay on the ground,
bushy tailed little neighbors
gather their winter stores

iron cauldrons of brunswick stew
and apple butter bubble a tune
accompanied by dulcimer,
fiddles and fine tenors
as kith and kin draw near
to give thanks for the harvest

Very nice piece here, Deb. Fall is my favorite time of year and I can't wait for the colors to come.

This gets me looking forward to the change in seasons! I think fall is my favorite time of year, as well.
